Ford Shelby Super Snake is now available at Mekor Ford Cape Town.  With only 500 available globally and only 50 available in South Africa, Mekor Ford Cape Town are thrilled to have one on their showroom floor.

From the 50-year commemoration of the original Ford Shelby Snake emerges the 2017 Super Snake, a reinvention of Carroll Shelby’s iconic supercar. The Super Snake has been designed to reignite passion for driving, echoing the spirit of its 1967 ancestor. With an astounding 670 horsepower (courtesy of the Ford Mustang’s 5.0l V-8 engine), a wide range of customization options, its unique 50th Anniversary body kit, interior design improvements and a whopping 3 year, 36,000-mile powertrain warranty, the current Super Snake trumps its predecessors on every front. With the addition of a Whipple or Kenne Bell supercharger, the Super Snake is expected to reach a high of 750hp, with an impressive timeframe of just 3.5 seconds from 0-60mph.  With these figures, the Super Snake is likely to stun any audience in classic Shelby style.

Mekor Ford Cape Town’s Super Snake

Every Super Snake is equipped with an exclusive set of Shelby spec-dampers, anti-roll bars, springs and bushings. Additionally, it hosts six-piston Wilwood brake calipers in its front and four-piston at the rear, assisted by improved cooling ducts for its brakes and engine. Customization is possible to optimize the performance of the car. Beyond the supercharger upgrade is the intensive cooling package, a one-piece drive shaft, a short throw shifter or the Ford Performance half shaft & wheel stud features. Interior upgrades include a choice of Katzkin leather seats or removal of rear seating.

Despite some changes to aesthetics, the Super Snake still boasts an authentically Shelby look. Changes in this model include a wider body, lowered suspension and LED lights. Its signature front grill, wing design and branding is however, still reminiscent of previous versions. The car is available in automatic or manual transmission and can be painted in any of Ford’s factory colors.

Shelby’s president Gary Patterson has expressed the company’s decision to be guided by customers when designing the car. With price reduction being the popular request, the team dedicated themselves towards executing a more affordable vehicle without compromising functionality or visual appeal. Changes in the manufacturing process enabled them to achieve just that as the 2017 Shelby Super Snake sits on a starting price of just $69,995. With only 500 being produced, this car is the biggest, baddest and most desirable Shelby yet.

Come visit Mekor Ford Cape Town today to view this rare beauty.
